Ask Yourself, Not Your Photographer
posted 12th February 2024
A photo is so much more than just a picture on a wall or a screen. And what is that precisely? Well, that's down to you more than it is to us.
Before we meet, we'll always ask what you want the pictures to do for you or, as importantly, for the people who'll be looking at them. Some customers tell us that they want to remember family at a special time, like a milestone birthday or an engagement. Others say they want a picture to impress an employer, or to attract a partner. But it goes deeper. People react to pictures in a certain way. And although we can't control how they'll respond, we can do a lot to influence it if we know what you want your pictures to do. To help, we've put together three questions to ask yourself before you go to your photoshoot.
Firstly, who is going to be looking at these pictures Secondly, what do you want people to do when they see them? And thirdly, what do you want them to think and feel when they are looking at them?
The second question - what you want people to do - is the most important one. Get a clear answer and you can work out what you need them to think and feel, and from there we can plan and set up your photoshoot.
Give it some detailed thought because we want you to get images that work hard as well as look great. And because we'll be asking you when we see you!
